King of the Wing Announces Northwest Tour Dates
The “King of the Wing” series is designed to work with all teams, promoters, fans and sponsors to strengthen pavement winged sprint car racing from coast to coast working directly with all existing pavement sprint car series.
The series provides a rules package that can apply to all sprint cars and create race events that truly allows the promoters and racers to build bigger venues, show the sponsors and fans the world's fastest short track cars, and to promote some of the best short track drivers competing head-to-head no mater what part of the country they are from or what series they run on a regular basis.
The 2015 schedule is being developed and when dates are finalized this site will be updated.
The series will expand to the Northwest this year, visiting the Legendary 1/4 mile oval in Meridian Idaho on July 30th. The series will conclude the Northwest swing with two races at Evergreen Speedway, Monroe Washington. The August 1st Rory Price Memorial will be run on Evergreen's 3/8 mile track. The August 2nd race will be on Evergreen's 5/8 mile track, the largest track the series will compete on.
The driver with the highest accumulated points from each region will be crowned that regions champion. The driver with the highest accumulated points from all 2015 races will be the National Pavement Winged Sprintcar Champion and will also be known as the “King of the Wing” for 2015.
The “King of the Wing” series is determined to make the rule packages competitive, no matter if you have a 360 or a 410. We have been testing on Chassis dyno’s and just finished our first on-track test at Showtime Speedway with Dave Steele piloting both cars. We are happy to say things went great and times with both combinations were almost exact with the 360 being just a tic faster. There will be a race at Showtime Speedway using this rules package on March 1st and everyone is welcome to compete in this race. After we see the results of this race we will make whatever adjustments needed to make sure everyone is equal. We do know that the 410 engine will be running a 1 7/8 restrictor and these will be supplied to all racers, at no charge, for those that participate in all of the King of the Wing races and to all Auto Value Super Sprint racers that will participate in the 3 mid-west races.
The King of the Wing series is currently in communications with other groups and tracks for 2015 and the plan is to have a 3 race series in Florida and then to the northwest for 3 races making it a 12 race series. You can keep up with all updates and information at kingofthewing.net
