Welcome to the "King of the Wing" Website

The “King of the Wing” series is designed to work with all teams, promoters, fans and sponsors to strengthen pavement winged sprint car racing from coast to coast working directly with all existing pavement sprint car series.

Long term plans for the series is to provide a rules package that can apply to all sprint cars and create race events that truly allows the promoters and racers to build bigger venues, show the sponsors and fans the world's fastest short track cars, and to promote some of the best short track drivers competing head-to-head no mater what part of the country they are from or what series they run on a regular basis.

The 2014 schedule will consist of 6 races. The first three races will be run the first week of July. Race 1 will be at Toledo Speedway on July 2nd, followed by Winchester Speedway, on July 4th, in conjunction with their 100 year celebration. Race 3, July 6th, is still being finalized and details will be announced in the near future.

The series will then move to the west coast in November the weekend before Thanksgiving. Race 4 will be at Madera Speedway on November 21st with race 4 on November 22nd at Irwindale Speedway. The series will conclude its inaugural season on November 23rd crowing the “King of the Wing” at the new ½ mile Kern County Speedway.

Series Championship Trophy with Mid-west and West Coast Trophies on either side

The “King of the Wing” series will crown 3 champions in its inaugural season. Champion 1 will be the driver with the highest accumulated points from the 3 mid-west races. Champion 2 will be the driver with the highest accumulated points from the 3 West Coast races. The 3rd Champion will be the driver with the most points from all 6 races, this driver will then be known as the “King of the Wing” for 2014. Both the Mid-West and West Coast Champions will receive $2,500.00 the “King of the Wing” will take home $5,000.00

The “King of the Wing” series is determined to make the rule packages competitive, no matter if you have a 360 or a 410. We have been testing on Chassis dyno’s and just finished our first on-track test at Showtime Speedway with Dave Steele piloting both cars.  We are happy to say things went great and times with both combinations were almost exact with the 360 being just a tic faster. There will be a race at Showtime Speedway using this rules package on March 1st and everyone is welcome to compete in this race. After we see the results of this race we will make whatever adjustments needed to make sure everyone is equal. We do know that the 410 engine will be running a 1 7/8 restrictor and these will be supplied to all racers, at no charge, for those that participate in all of the King of the Wing races and to all Auto Value Super Sprint racers that will participate in the 3 mid-west races.

The King of the Wing series is currently in communications with other groups and tracks for 2015 and the plan is to have a 3 race series in Florida and then to the northwest for 3 races making it a 12 race series. You can keep up with all updates and information at kingofthewing.net
